Parents have many concerns regarding homeschooled students. The first thing parents need to do is review the policies and procedures of their local community colleges for homeschooling students. You should be aware that every community college has its homeschool policy. The parents can benefit greatly from taking the time to check and verify any policies. If you want to be successful and get the best solution in going to college, you need to work with junior colleges
It is not enough to verify the existing policies of the community college. I will add that it is important for parents to ask themselves whether their children who are homeschooled should be sent to any of these colleges.
I do not mind that parents send their homeschooled student to a community school. This is something only parents can decide. I assume parents, especially Christian ones, are only concerned with the welfare their children. They are better equipped than others to evaluate whether their children are ready to socialize and interact in an adult environment that is often unregulated. I’d like to add that parents need to exercise due diligence in reaching a well-considered decision. Parents should not allow the bandwagon effect or other influences to influence their decisions. They must be aware of the ramifications of the decision and the effect it will have in their lives. The parents should behave as parents and give priority to the welfare of their homeschooled child.
I say all of this because I care deeply about the wellbeing of homeschooled teens. They have already enjoyed so much from homeschooling and can be allowed continue to enjoy a family-friendly environment and an environment which does not threaten their values. I hope my article will make homeschoolers aware of some of the unfortunate realities that can be found at local community college campuses and encourage them to decide whether or not to send their homeschooled students to these colleges.
